Promoting the quality of life in the St David's area of Exeter

Neighbourhood Fund

NOVEMBER 2008: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CYCLE OF FUNDING HAS NOW COME TO AN END. WE HOPE THAT EXETER CITY COUNCIL WILL CONSIDER RE-INTRODUCING THIS FUNDING COMBINED WITH ITS ANNUAL ENGAGEMENT REVIEW WITH COMMUNITIES FROM ACROSS THE CITY.

Are you part of a community group that has a project in our area?

Exeter City Council's ‘My Neighbourhood' initiative has created a fund for community projects that will improve community life in the St David's Neighbourhood Partnership area. The total fund for our area is £2,500 and grants of up to £250 are available (up to November 2008) for projects that will help achieve the Vision and priorities for the area. St David's Neighbourhood Partnership (SDNP) has been asked to co-ordinate the grants process with the Council and Exeter Community Initiatives. Two local residents will be elected to a panel chaired by Gina Richards of SDNP, alongside our local councillor. Once the panel is place the grant allocation process can begin. If you are interested in being one of the two residents on the panel please let us know on 01392 421 869. We are delighted that Exeter City Council is supporting grass-roots action in this way and look forward to hearing about the creative ways residents use the money to improve our community.
The following is the guidance for the ‘My Neighbourhood Fund'
Criteria for the Fund

  • Funding should address needs and priorities that have been identified in the St David's Neighbourhood Vision Statement and area priorities. A link to these and further information about the Fund is included at the end of this article.
  • Funding should benefit people living in neighbourhoods in the ward of St David's - in particular the SDNP catchment area, which is the area bounded by Bonhay Road, Hele Road Queen St, Northernhay St, Exe St.
  • Funding can be for small capital expenditure or to contribute to running costs.
The maximum grant available is generally £250. If more is required, a special case would be considered by the decision-making Panel.

Application Process

  • Anyone interested should contact Carole Pilley on 01392 205807 or email: carole@eci.org.uk for an application form.
  • Assistance with completing an application form will be provided by Exeter Community Initiatives, where needed.
  • On receipt of an application it will be assessed by a Panel from the SDNP. The applicant will be notified within four weeks whether their application has been successful or not.
  • Those receiving funding will be asked to submit evidence that the funding has been spent as expected and their project will be evaluated as part of the ‘My Neighbourhood' evaluation process on the benefit of the funding to the community.
